Volunteers – We Need You!

The team at Vibe Australia are looking for volunteers to be part of Vibe Alive – a special two-day youth festival that incorporates music, sport, dance and art in a high-energy, youth-friendly setting.

Vibe Alive is a chance for the young people of your community to express themselves and show their school, their family and their community what they’re good at. As part of a team, they’ll get the opportunity to compete in a whole bunch of challenges and win cool prizes.

They’ll also find out about awesome career choices, meet some celebrities and learn a few important things about their health.

Vibe Alive is also about celebrating Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and being a proud Aussie.

What can I do?
Volunteers play an instrumental and an invaluable role to this event. As a volunteer, you will be helping to bring the true essence of your community into Vibe Alive. Your local knowledge and your commitment to your community will help make Vibe Alive a huge success.

There are a variety of volunteer roles that need to be filled, from scoring, supervision and food service to assisting with the dance, singing, art, basketball, health or careers components of the competition

Work experience opportunities also exist for students in senior high school, TAFE or university who are studying event management or related courses. This is a great chance for students to join the Vibe Team and gain hands-on experience of a fast-paced, logistically challenging but ultimately rewarding event.

There are several positions available at all events. These are:

Event and Site Assistants
Working with the event manager and site manager, event assistants will be key to assisting communication between activity areas, assisting the management and movement of students between activity areas and general site duties.

Area Assistants
Working in either the basketball, art, singing, dance, careers or health components of the festival, area assistants will be working closely with local and touring managers to assist in management and facilitation.

Duties will range from marshalling participants, managing and reporting scoresheets back to a central point and directing teams where needed. We will try our best to place you in any particular area of interest.

Facilitators and Judges
Facilitators will work closely with the touring facilitators as judges, and are also on hand to provide advice to participating students. These roles are open to artists, dancers, musicians, choreographers and sports coaches as well as music, dance, art and sports teachers.

Your expertise will play a key role in students’ festival experience.

When will you need me?
Volunteers will need to be available to work from 8:00am – 4:00pm on the Wednesday and/or Thursday of the event. You will also be required to attend a volunteers training course prior to the event.

All volunteers are invited to attend the Opening Night function held on the eve of Vibe Alive as a special thank you in advance for your time and effort.

Volunteers will be provided with a VIBE crew t-shirt as well as being catered for lunch, dinner and snacks throughout the days. In the instance that there is a breakfast club available, volunteers will have access to this for breakfast.

All volunteers are required to complete an Australian Federal Police check prior to joining the Vibe team. These forms are available through the Local Vibe Alive committee or can be emailed to you. Completed forms must be submitted to Vibe Australia no later than 45 working days prior to the event dates.

For further information about the Vibe Alive event please visit www.vibealive.com.au

If you would like to volunteer please get in contact with your Local Organising Committee or contact Laura from Vibe Australia on 1800 623 430.

By working together, our team of volunteers, facilitators, suppliers, committee members, suppliers, and staff will ensure that Vibe Alive is the best possible experience for your young people.

We look forward to seeing you there!
