A Brighter Future

The Deadlys pays tribute to our educators.

A good education is vital to our future and the future of our children. The Deadlys is proud to have an award that recognises the achievement of our Aboriginal educators, and this year the Department of Education, Science and Training (DEST) Award for Outstanding Achievement in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Education was awarded to Peter Buckskin.

Peter has been working in Indigenous education for over 20 years, and has been involved in education policy making at both the State and Federal level. He spoke of the importance of supporting our teachers, and remembering that they are the ones who help to build a brighter future for our kids.

Peter was presented his award by the Hon. Dr Brendan Nelson MP and the winner of last year’s Deadly for Outstanding Achievement in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health, Dr Ngiare Brown.
