Celebrating arts & culture

How do you keep fit?
I go to the gym a lot and do weights, and I also run and do boxing.

Why is it important for you to keep fit?
Acting can be very demanding ” especially in the theatre. For instance, when I was starring in Capricornia I was basically on stage the whole time, maybe three hours. You have to be in peak condition for something like that, or you just won’t be able to do it.

What about your diet?
Exercise and healthy eating go hand in hand. There’s no point in trying to build a fit body if you’re not putting the right fuel into it. I eat lots of fish and lean red meats, as well as loads of vegies in salads and stuff.

Do you have any weaknesses?
Definitely vanilla ice cream!

What do you do when you’re feeling down?
I spend time with my son. He makes me forget everything else.

Do you go to an Aboriginal Medical Service?
Yes, I go to the AMS in Redfern. I reckon it’s really important to go to your AMS for regular health checks. I like the fact that my AMS caters for Indigenous people. You walk in and there’s a black face at the front counter to greet you.
