Kirrae Health Services INC was established in the late 1970’s with the main goal of improving health outcomes and services for the local Aboriginal Community of Purnim, Victoria. Many years have now past since Kirrae was established and still more goals are being set and achieved.
As the community has expanded over the years, so has Kirrae’s services and programs which ensure the community’s needs are still met at a high standard. Kirrae Health Service INC is continuing to be recognized as a vital Aboriginal Health Service to the south west region of Victoria as the importance of the health and access to health services for the community is always at the forefront at Kirrae.
Kirrae offers holistic healthcare to the locals both independently and through partnerships.
Primary Care:
Primary Care Services offers a variety of Health Services, health check up’s, general health education, education on medication use, chronic disease management, and health screening and immunisation programs.
Kirrae Health Services has a General Practitioner who visits once a month, a registered nurse and two Aboriginal Health Workers who all work on site to offer these services.
Aboriginal Health Promotion and Chronic Care (AHPACC) in partnership with Gunditjmara and South West Health Care:
The AHPACC service places an emphasis on the promotion of being healthy, living a healthy life and chronic care.
Peeneeyt Ngarrakeetoon, the South West Close the Gap Project in partnership with Gunditjmara and South West Health Care:
Peeneeyt Ngarrakeetoon addresses gaps and barriers in referral pathways for Aboriginal people in South West Victoria and provides care coordination and support to Aboriginal families living in Warrambool and the Moyne Shire catchment area.
The program provides care coordination and support to Aboriginal families to address drug and alcohol, mental health and family violence issues and their underlying contributing factors.
Healthy for Life, in partnership with Gunditjmara, DWECH and Winda-mara:
Healthy for Life at Kirrae offers service to all age groups with the majority of those services being anti natal/maternal health care and the identification, management and support to clients with chronic illness.
