Achieving on & off the sporting field

When opportunity knocks

In professional football, one man’s loss is usually another man’s gain, which is precisely the case over at West Coast where a season-ending injury to goalsneak Mark Le Cras has opened the door for 23 year-old  Josh Hill  to stake his claim on a forward spot.

Josh, originally from Broome, was drafted by the Bulldogs in 2006 and earned a Rising Star nomination in his debut season. He managed only 23 games across the 2010 and 2011 seasons and will be hungry to turn things around after getting a fresh start at the Eagles this year. So far, the signs are good after Josh displayed some promising form in the NAB Cup.

“For a lot of young players coming up there’s a spot available, so everyone’s pushing hard,” said Josh. “I’ve been training and working on playing that half-forward role, so if the spot is there and I work hard to get it, then I’ll work hard to keep it.”
