The highest award on the Australian Country Music scene is without question the Golden Guitar Award. And this year our very own Troy Cassar-Daley again receives this honour, his second consecutive year as Australia’s Golden Boy.
Born in Sydney and raised in Grafton, Troy was a finalist in Star Maker in 1999 and 1990, making it to the final five for New Talent of the Year also in 1990. After an extensive tour with Brian Young through the Australian Outback, Troy signed to Sony Music and released his debut EP Dream Out Loud in 1994.
He opened for the Highwaymen during their tour of Australia and released his first album Beyond the Dancing in 1995, winning him 1996 Male Vocalist of the Year at the Toyota Country Music Awards. He released a single “Good Woman’s Love” in 1996 from his latest album True Believer released in January 1996.
Every year, every major and some not so major country music stars feature at Tamworth. About 30,000 visitors add to the 50,000 Tamworth population to take part in the eleven day festival – the biggest of its kind in Australia
There are hundreds of separate activities and events spread through dozens of different venues over the 11 days of the festival.
This year the Indigenous line up also included Barry Benning and the Benning Brothers, Emma Donovan, Warren Williams, Troy Cassar-Daley and Jimmy Little.
