Flashback: Deadly Sounds Episode 563 – Dean Widders

An interview with Dean Widders from June 10, 2005

Nine years ago we conducted an interview with ex-NRL star, Dean Widders, when he was playing for the Parramatta Eels, had just won the Community Athlete of the Year award, and was serving as a role model for Indigenous youth. Dean also tells us about why he left the Sydney Roosters and his aspirations for when he leaves the game he loves.

More recently, Deadly Vibe caught up with Dean to see what he has been up to lately:

“I do everything from educational camps, through to leadership, aspiration building, employment, self-esteem and one-on-ones. A big thing is relocating from the bush to the big city and coping with the demands of being an Indigenous role model,” Dean says.
