Vibe 3on3 returns to Murray Bridge

Adelaide born soccer star Travis Dodds will join a host of dynamic role models at the Vibe 3on3® at Murray Bridge on Wednesday, 13 April 2011.

Travis is a former Adelaide United A-Leaguer and has recently signed up with Perth Glory. He is both a national and an international player, and was the first Indigenous soccer player to score an international goal for Australia in the 2006 Asian Cup.

Sydney-based Indigenous Hip Hop performer Brothablack (Shannon Williams) will also be at the 3on3 to entertain and inspire students, along with dynamic Aboriginal dancer Medika Thorpe and break dancer Jason Campbell.

Indigenous artist and comedienne Kevin Kropinyeri returns to his hometown of Murray Bridge as a role model for the 3on3.

The Vibe 3on3® is a fun, free event for Aboriginals and non-Indigenous Australians.

There’ll be basketball, dancing, music, health and culture to entertain and challenge young people. The event encourages sportsmanship, teaches new skills and builds self-esteem, as well as promoting reconciliation at a grassroots level.

The action-packed event features a 3on3 basketball tournament, rapping and break dancing lessons, art workshops, a dance competition and a health expo, all accompanied by a backing track of the latest RnB, hip hop and Indigenous music.

To participate in the Vibe 3on3®, young people need to pre-register in teams of five through their school by 5pm on Thursday, 7 April. The event will be held at the Murray Bridge Basketball Stadium, Murray Bridge Showgrounds, Princes Highway Murray Bridge from 9am-2.30pm and will feature an opening ceremony, face painting and a health expo.

The Vibe 3on3® aims to promote healthy lifestyles, strengthen communities and boost self-esteem. The Vibe 3on3® is also an excellent opportunity for health services and related organisations to introduce themselves to the wider community.
