It was standing room only in the school auditorium as almost 200 people gathered to witness traditional owner Aunty Josie Augus of the Kaurna people perform the Welcome to Country and Gary Karpany, a Year six student who won the “Take An Ambassador To School-Writing It Up” competition, accept his award by DEST Ambassador Dr Alice Rigney.

After the official proceedings ended, it was out to the barbecue area where 70 people enjoyed lunch. School principal Jamie Price also joined in and had a bite to eat. It was great to see Gary’s family and friends on hand to show their support.

Thanks to Mr Price and all the teachers at John Morphett for making us feel so welcome ” and of course, well done Gary.
